Regulatory framework
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1045 of 9 April 2024 amending Regulation (EC) No 333/2007 as regards the methods of sampling and analysis for the control of levels of nickel in foodstuffs and amending certain references
Regulation (EU) 2023/915 and subsequent amendments setting the maximum levels of inorganic arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), lead (Pb) and inorganic tin (Sn) permitted in some food products.
Regulation (EC) 333/2007 and subsequent amendments prescribing the methods for sampling food products to be submitted to control, the performance requirements of the analytical methods used in this activity and the rules to be applied for conformity assessment.
In addition, the European Union has issued recommendations for monitoring the levels of arsenic (As) and its species, cadmium (Cd), iodine (I), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg) and nickel (Ni) in specific food products, to acquire a larger database of occurrences.
