Phytosanitary

The Center plays an active role in hazard assessment, with the classification and labeling of both active substances and plant protection and adjuvant products, for marketing authorization in Italy and in Europe. 

It also plays a supporting role to companies with the preparation of guidelines, publications and training activities. 

The Center with its experts participates in the Pesticides Consultative Commission, in the meetings of the Technical Scientific Council and in various other technical working groups, in the national and international community. 

In this context, the Center takes an active part in the assessments of various applications for plant protection products that are in the process of registration (first authorization), technical changes, re-registration, for which Italy is the rapporteur Member State. 

The activity of the Center is closely linked to the application of Regulation (EC) no. 1272/2008 (CLP) for the classification and labeling of substances and products. 

At the international level, the Center collaborates with the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) and with the European Chemical Substances Agency (ECHA) in the preparation of the harmonized classification report (CLH) for phytosanitary active substances of which Italy is the rapporteur Member State pursuant to Regulation (EC) no. 1107/2009.
