The projects of the Italian Obstetric Surveillance System: birth during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, update of data on maternal mortality and planning of post-pandemic activities - 18 May 2023

The Conference aims to discuss with the health professionals who assist birth in Italy the information collected by the ItOSS surveillance, in collaboration with the Regions, to improve the quality of birth care and prevent mortality and severe avoidable morbidity. The data collected by the ItOSS project on SARS-CoV-2 infection in pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum will offer an overview of the impact of the pandemic and on the role of vaccination among pregnant and breastfeeding women. The three international experts will broaden the overview of the pandemic to the European scenario and will present a focus on cardiac disease during pregnancy and on Caesarean section, two topics of public health interest in Italy. The event will restore the usual annual appointment with the healthcare professionals and organizations that join the ItOSS network in order to share the acquired knowledge and discuss the research and intervention priorities in the obstetrics field to be pursued in the post-pandemic phase.
